Eileen McGovern
Search Manager –
SEO & SEM
Eileen is a whiz at just about every aspect of digital marketing from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to Pay Per Click. She also has experience in social media and website design and she brings all of these talents to her position as search coordinator for Efferent Media.
She also has a wide variety of interests outside the office from charitable fundraising to theater and other arts. She comes to Efferent after entering the world of marketing by accident.
“I got into marketing by mistake,” she says. “I wanted to be a freelance writer. I got into SEO because of my writing abilities and found that I really enjoyed the analytical and technical aspects of SEO.”
Prior to coming to Efferent, Eileen served as a Pay Per Click specialist for SD Truck Springs, where she worked on high-volume ad campaigns refining and optimizing ad copy for the company’s niche products. Eileen also did SEO work and content development for SD and also served as an SEO specialist for a Happauge-based marketing firm where she managed SEO efforts for up to 14 clients simultaneously, edited copy, and provided clients with monthly reports.
Eileen has a great love for animals and is proud of her work with the non-profit organization Pets for Vets, which pairs rescue dogs with veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. She’s also helped raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society via the Long Island Brain Tumor Walk.
“I’d love to be a nature/animal photojournalist,” she says. “I follow a number of photographers and journalists on Instagram who do amazing work to bring light to environmental and animal conservation issues.”
Eileen loves to cook and enjoys experimenting with new recipes. She says she’s “obsessed” with science fiction like Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who, and she enjoys spending time with her pittie Lucy and her fiancée.
Each new employee of Efferent Media is required to read the office copy of “Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service” by Kenneth H. Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles. This delightful book, written as a fable, stresses three key principles for business success: Integrity, Passion, and Over-Delivering. All of us at Efferent — including interns and part-timers — must read this book and absorb its message. It’s a pact with the company — and even with ourselves — that we will never settle for simply “satisfying” customers.
