Haydee is an up and coming graphic designer who brings a passion for creative solutions, travel, and thinking outside the box to Efferent Media. She studied visual communications and graphic design at Farmingdale State College and lists being accepted to the school’s visual communications department as one of her biggest accomplishments.
“I not only began this great journey into the design world, but discovered so much about myself,” she says. She’s already used the graphic designing skills she’s honed at school in a professional setting.
Haydee has done freelance graphic design work at her local church Ebenezer Ministries. She designed a version of the church’s website and also crafted the brand identity for Ebenezer’s school of doctrine. Haydee was also an integral part of the creation of a 200-page Spanish language encyclopedia of church teachings which was published and is sold at Ebenezer. She has recorded and produced videos for the church and has been in charge of their social media operation. She also has customer service experience and helps train new hires at a consumer electronics store.
In addition to doing graphic design at Ebenezer, Haydee volunteers there twice a week teaching Sunday school classes and planning activities for kids ages 7 to 12. “It’s something I am passionate about, love to do and look forward to every week,” she says.
During her free time Haydee enjoys photography and spending time with her family and friends. She was born in Guatemala and dreams of traveling extensively. She’s already visited El Salvador and Dubai, where she got a close-up look at her favorite animal, the camel.
She’s passionate about her work. “Since I was a little kid I had always been very creative. It was easy for me to think outside the box and to find creative solutions to problems. When it was time to make up my mind about a career, graphic design made sense the second I heard of it.” “The same desire to be creative in all areas of my life is what drives me to do what I do. I love a good challenge and to be challenged by what I do.”
Each new employee of Efferent Media is required to read the office copy of “Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service” by Kenneth H. Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles. This delightful book, written as a fable, stresses three key principles for business success: Integrity, Passion, and Over-Delivering. All of us at Efferent — including interns and part-timers — must read this book and absorb its message. It’s a pact with the company — and even with ourselves — that we will never settle for simply “satisfying” customers.
