Nicole Garraffo
COO / Project Manager
Management
Nicole’s background in marketing and teaching has led her to become the content strategist at Efferent Media, where she leads her team of talented content writers in creating unique, shareable and SEO-friendly content for the firm’s varied clientele.
Before joining Efferent she honed her marketing experience at AC Nielsen, a local marketing research firm, as a senior panel analyst doing marketing research, and she also spent time in the computer training field at several schools – including Hendriks Institute and New Horizons Computer Learning Center – as an instructor, as well as a curriculum writer and school director.
Additionally, she earned her master’s degree in elementary education/special education and worked as a CSS/substitute teacher while also raising her two children with her husband, Joe.
When Joe started Efferent Media, Nicole – who also holds a bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations – joined the team, lending her skills and helping him build the company.
Besides overseeing content strategy at Efferent, she also acts as the CFO, as well as works with the Web development team on quality assurance for every site launch and works with the social media team on strategy and content ideas for clients.
Outside the office, Nicole has given back to the community by volunteering at a nursing home and at a social services clinic and walking for breast cancer and AIDS foundations. She was also the co-leader and cookie mom for her daughter’s Daisy (Girl Scouts) troop.
When Nicole isn’t whipping up creative content ideas for Efferent clients, she loves spending time with Joe, their two kids and Sadie, the family’s chocolate Labrador Retriever.
She also enjoys reading, watching classic movies – a passion passed down from her grandmother – and drinking a nice glass of wine and eating a great meal (prepared by her husband who, she says, is a terrific cook), preferably with family and friends. And if she had the chance, she’d love to try her hand at being a movie critic.
Each new employee of Efferent Media is required to read the office copy of “Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service” by Kenneth H. Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles. This delightful book, written as a fable, stresses three key principles for business success: Integrity, Passion, and Over-Delivering. All of us at Efferent — including interns and part-timers — must read this book and absorb its message. It’s a pact with the company — and even with ourselves — that we will never settle for simply “satisfying” customers.
