Jillian has a love of words, and a talent for writing which she brings to Efferent’s social media department. She’s a recent graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, where she received a BA in English and a minor in speech communication.
Jillian earned an academic scholarship at St. Josephs and an AA from Suffolk Community College where she received the school’s English Department Recognition Award. The award is given to the student who took the most challenging courses while maintaining the highest grade point average. She considers her 40 page thesis on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel, The Scarlett Letter to be her proudest academic achievement.
Her strong academic background in writing, public speaking and communications has been a great addition to Efferent where she serves as a Social Media Community manager. Jillian says she chose a social media as a career path because it is “inspiring.”
“Not only is it professionally exciting, but it demands creativity,” she says. “Social media is always changing and having to be adaptive to this is something that will always keep this profession interesting.”
Prior to joining Efferent, Jillian worked at Capitol Design, a national sign manufacturing company. She credits her dealings with different subcontractors and government entities from around the country with giving her a passion to connect with people on a deeper level through social media.
Jillian enjoys snowboarding, traveling on cruise ships, off-roading on Long Island beaches and going to Escape the Room attractions. She has volunteered as a religious education catechist at a church in Deer Park.
Her ultimate goal is to become a published mystery novelist.
