Michael has been a film and video aficionado since a very young age when he was known to repeatedly watch “Ghostbusters” on his family’s VCR. Then he began to pick up a camera and point it in every direction.
He’s made countless short films throughout his life and he brings his artistic bent, resourcefulness and his eye for detail to Efferent where he works in our video department.
Michael also has a background in advertising and earned a degree in commercial art from Nassau Community College before going on to earn a BFA in film and video from Five Towns College.
He’s done a wide variety of film and video projects on Long Island, having written and directed several commercials for area businesses. He’s also directed videos for local recording artists.
Michael has written and directed several short films and his 2012 work, “Life. Enigma.” earned him nominations for best directing, best film editing and best supporting actor at the 2012 Luminaries Film Festival. He served as an executive producer and director of photography for the 2009 feature film, “Enjoy Yourself,” which premiered in Bellmore.
Prior to coming to Efferent, Michael worked for CME, a nation-wide medical equipment distributor and also helped editors cut tennis highlight packages at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, Queens.
Michael loves the suspense and horror movie genre and lists Directors David Lynch, John Carpenter and Italian filmmaker Dario Argento as his key influences. He’s inspired when he creates, saying, “I feel like video work or films can be art, so I want to try and bring that to advertising.”
His ultimate goal is to one day make and release his own full length feature film. When he’s not around the office, he says he spends his time writing and resting his eyes from large glowing screens.
