Rita is inspired by social media, the performing arts and brings a variety of media and organizational skills to her position as a community manager at Efferent Media. She holds an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in Dramatic/Theatre Arts from Suffolk Community College and she has studied Communication and Media at SUNY Empire State College.
Prior to coming to Efferent she served as the Summerfest Event Coordinator as an intern for the UJA-Federation of New York in Syosset. She was part of a team that planned, coordinated, and executed a private concert and fundraiser that was attended by more than 1,800 people and raised more than $3.2 million for UJA. Rita was the lead coordinator for an online silent auction, live auction and raffles.
In addition to her marketing and fundraising experience, she also has tremendous performing arts skills, which she’s honed at Walt Disney World. Rita drove the Safari vehicle at Disney’s Animal Kingdom where she performed a 30 minute educational and entertaining narrative all about African animals.
At Suffolk, she was the president of the theater club for two years and was the recipient of the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship by Kennedy Center, American College Theater Festival. Rita has directed and produced cabaret performances and has also directed local theater on Long Island. She says she would love to appear on Broadway and one day own a theater.
She brings a passion for social media and is fascinated by watching social media grow and impact everyday lives. “Seeing social media bringing so many different people together is really cool,” she says.
Rita prides herself on her organizational skills, saying, “I love binders and folders!” When she’s not at Efferent, Rita enjoys performing and seeing Broadway shows and lists creating balloon animals and stilt walking among in her skill set.
