Why Do You Need Google Ads?

You want to promote your business… but with ads everywhere, it’s hard to decide what to use. Not only are there Google Ads, Facebook ads, and conventional print and TV ads – but you can also find ads inside apps of all kinds and even at the pump while getting gas. With all of these options, it’s a good time to examine Google Ads, the benefits of Google Ads, and their place in the current advertising and marketing environment.

Previously known as AdWords and Google AdWords, it’s a pay-per-click ad platform. It delivers text-based ads in search engine results pages (SERPs) based on the keywords the advertiser designates. The advertiser only pays if someone clicks on the ad. The budget you set, along with other parameters, determines how often your ads appear in SERPs.

Google’s Helpful Content Update

In Mid-August 2022, Google announced that they would be rolling out the “Helpful Content” update. This appeared to be a reasonably positive idea based on the name alone. But what is “Helpful Content,” and how will it affect the internet landscape? 

In Danny Sullivan’s Google blog post, he expressed that this update to Search would “tackle content that seems to have been primarily created for ranking well in search engines rather than to help or inform people.” When it comes to content, we’ve been expressing for years now how increasingly important it is to write content for humans, not robots. And that targeting natural language and answering legitimate questions is more important than chasing specific terms because of volume.

But is that enough to satiate the moniker of “helpful content?”
