Arrow runs SEO, content and social as one engagement, so these are account figures across that work rather than content-only figures, and the same three appear on /services/seo/. The content half of it was rebuilding a promotional blog around what buyers actually ask.

What does content marketing mean for a local business?

It means publishing the answers a buyer needs before they will call you, in the places they are looking for them. For most local businesses that is a small number of very good service pages, a handful of genuinely useful articles answering the questions that come up on every sales call, and short video shot on real jobs. It is not a publishing cadence, and volume for its own sake is a cost.

What it did on one account

One Account, Before and After

Arrow is a pest control company founded in 1947 that had a blog nobody outside the company had a reason to read. The year before the work started was higher than the year it started, which is the part a growth chart on its own never shows.

Three measured points, and the one before the work began

Source: Arrow Exterminating, published at /case-studies/arrow/. Three measured points, all three published: 11,461 users the year before the work started, 10,616 the year it started, 166,828 four years later. The years between the second and the third were never published, so nothing is drawn between them. Arrow is an SEO, content and social engagement, so this is an account figure across that work rather than a content-only one.

How a page gets chosen

The Answer Goes First, or Somebody Else Gets Quoted.

A page is read twice, once by a person deciding whether to keep reading and once by a machine deciding what to quote. Both of them want the same thing in the same place.

Where the answer sits, and what that decides

DIAGRAM
THE ANSWER AT PARAGRAPH SIX An introduction A bit of company history Why the topic matters Definitions More preamble The answer NEVER REACHED THE ANSWER IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH The answer LIFTED Then the detail Then the exceptions Then what it costs Then what to do next Then who to call DRAWN, NOT CAPTURED. AN ASSEMBLED ANSWER QUOTES THE FIRST SELF-CONTAINED PARAGRAPH IT CAN USE.

Drawn, not captured. Structural, so nothing here goes stale.

Four pages that answer a real question, against forty that do not

OUR OWN RULE
FOUR THAT ANSWER A REAL QUESTION What does it cost? How long does it take? Do you handle the permit? Are you licensed for this? FORTY PUBLISHED TO HIT A CADENCE THEY COMPETE WITH EACH OTHER, AND WITH THOSE FOUR. OUR OWN RULE, DRAWN. VOLUME FOR ITS OWN SAKE IS A COST, AND THIN PAGES ACTIVELY HURT.

Drawn, not captured, and not a client’s number. This is our own rule, applied the same way on every account we run.

What you actually see

What Each Page Earns

Journey is our own portal. A page that does not load, or that Googlebot cannot reliably reach, is not content yet, so the key pages are checked rather than assumed. What each page then earns sits alongside it.

Journey is our own client portal. Every client gets a login on day one, and every figure on it traces to their own records rather than to a platform dashboard. Captured from a live client view with the account name, the login email and the client’s own domain replaced before the screenshot was taken.

How we run it

From the Sales Call to the Page.

Five steps, and the first one happens on the phone rather than in a keyword tool.

01 / 05

  1. 01

    Listen to the sales calls

The real objections, in the customer's own words. This is the research step, and skipping it is why so much content sounds like nobody wrote it.

  2. 02

Check it against real search demand

The question has to be one people actually type, and phrased the way they type it.

  3. 03

Answer it in the first paragraph

Then expand. Burying the answer under six hundred words of preamble loses the reader and loses the citation.

Answer engines lift the first self-contained paragraph

  4. 04

    Make it quotable by machines

Clear headings, real structure, FAQ and service schema. The same work that makes a page skimmable makes it citable.

  5. 05

    Shoot the proof

Thirty seconds of the actual work, filmed on a phone, beats a produced spot in this category almost every time.

Why structure matters now

A Page Is Read Twice. Once by a Person, Once by a Machine.

Both readers want the same thing: the answer, up front, in plain language.

The real objections, in the customer’s own words, then checked against what people actually type and how they phrase it. Skipping that step is why so much content reads like nobody wrote it.

Why it converts

The Content That Works Is the Content You Are Already Saying.

Every business has five questions that come up on every single sales call. What does it cost. How long does it take. What happens if it rains. Do you handle the permit. Are you actually licensed for this.

Those five questions are also, almost always, the highest-intent searches in the category, and almost nobody has written a good page for any of them.

The five questions every sales call in this category already answers

ASKED ON EVERY SALES CALL What does it cost? Answered on every call, in a range, with a reason. SEARCHED TOO How long does it take? Answered on every call, and rarely written anywhere. SEARCHED TOO What happens if it rains? The objection that decides the season. SEARCHED TOO Do you handle the permit? The one that separates you from two of the quotes. SEARCHED TOO Are you actually licensed for this? The one nobody wants to ask out loud. SEARCHED TOO DRAWN, NOT CAPTURED. THIS IS THE HOME SERVICES LIST. YOURS IS FIVE OTHER QUESTIONS, OFF YOUR OWN CALLS.

Drawn, not captured. These are the home services five. Yours are five different questions, and we get them off your own calls rather than out of a tool.

FAQ

Questions We Hear Every Week

Straight answers. If something is not here, ask us on the audit call.

How often should I publish?

As often as you have something worth answering. Four genuinely useful pages beat forty thin ones, and thin pages actively hurt.

Will AI write it?

We use AI to research, outline and draft faster. A person with fifteen years in this market decides what is true, what is worth saying and what would get an account restricted.

Do blog posts still work?

Posts that answer a real buying question work. Posts published to hit a cadence do not, and never really did.

What about video?

Short, real, shot on the job. Thirty seconds of actual work is worth more than a produced spot and costs a fraction.

Who writes it, and does it sound like us?

We write it, from your sales calls and your words, and you approve it before it publishes.

Is medical content different?

Substantially. Claims, prescription drug terms, trademarked device names and before-and-after imagery are all regulated, and getting it wrong can restrict an entire ad account. Medical copy goes through compliance screening before anyone outside sees it.
