What you publish, and why it exists.

Blogs, video, email and the writing on the pages themselves. Content that answers a buying question earns its keep; content published to have published does not.

Most business content is written for nobody. It answers a question the owner finds interesting rather than one a customer typed, and it reads like every other page on the subject because it was assembled from those pages. The version that works is narrower and usually shorter: a specific question, answered by somebody who has actually done the work, with the detail a competitor would leave out. That is also what gets cited by an answer engine, which has made the difference between the two more expensive than it used to be. These posts cover choosing what to write, writing it so it earns the search and the trust, and the unglamorous maintenance half nobody budgets for: updating what is already ranking before publishing something new.
