Pest Control

Advertising a Business With a Season and a Route.

Paid search and paid social for pest control, built around the two things that make this industry different.

How should a pest control company advertise?

Around the calendar and around the truck. Demand for pest control is not flat, so budget that arrives evenly across the year is wrong twice: too thin in May when the auction is full of buyers, too thick in January when it is not. And every lead outside a route you already drive costs more to serve than it looks on the invoice. Advertising that ignores either of those buys volume and loses margin.

  • Ramp ahead of the season. Budget that arrives after demand does pays a premium for it.
  • Bid toward the route. A stop five minutes from three others is worth more than a distant one.
  • Separate the emergencies. Wasps today and a termite inspection are not the same buyer.

The most expensive habit in the category

Paying the Same for Every Lead.

A hornet nest at four in the afternoon and a quarterly plan enquiry are the same line in most ad accounts. One is urgent, converts on the phone and rarely renews. The other is worth several times more over two years and will compare three companies first.

Bidding them identically means the emergency work, which is easy to win, eats the budget that should have gone to the work that compounds. Splitting them is usually the single biggest margin change available in a pest account.

How we build the account

Season, Route, Then Scale.

In that order, because scaling a campaign aimed at the wrong lead just buys more of it.

01 / 05

  1. 01

    Turn off the quiet drains

Search Partners and the display network come off every local campaign on day one.

First change on any account we inherit

  2. 02

    Split emergency from plan

Different campaigns, different budgets, different landing pages, because they are different businesses that happen to share a truck.

  3. 03

Shape the budget to the year

Ramp ahead of the season rather than chasing it into a full auction.

  4. 04

Tighten to the routes you drive

Radius targeting that matches real coverage, not the map you wish you covered.

  5. 05

    Send the outcome back

Booked jobs uploaded as conversions, so bidding learns from work you completed instead of forms you received.

The shape of a pest year

Demand Is Not Flat, and Neither Should Budget Be.

The exact curve differs by market and by service mix. The mistake is always the same: money that arrives after the season has already started.

FAQ

Questions We Hear Every Week

Straight answers. If something is not here, ask us on the audit call.

Is Google Ads or Facebook better for pest control?

Google for the problem someone has right now, which is most of the revenue. Paid social for plan renewals, seasonal reminders and the services nobody searches for until you tell them the service exists.

What does a pest control lead cost?

It varies by service and by market more than almost any category we run, because an emergency callout and a termite inspection sit in completely different auctions. A single blended figure hides the answer.

Should I advertise in winter?

Usually yes, at a lower level, because the auction is cheap and the people searching in January are rodent and commercial work rather than tyre-kickers. Going dark also costs you the ramp into spring.

Do I need a separate landing page?

For anything you pay for, yes. Sending paid traffic to a homepage is the most common reason a competent ad account still produces expensive leads.

Can you run Local Service Ads for pest control?

Yes, and for a lot of pest companies it is the best first dollar, because it sits above everything else and charges per lead rather than per click.
