Marketing notes for retail and consumer brands.

Retail and direct to consumer, built on the same fundamentals as a local launch and measured harder. Where a product company should spend first, and what it should stop paying for.

A product company has more channels available than a local business and less room to be wrong in any of them. The fundamentals do not change, demand has to exist, the page has to convert, the number has to be trusted, but the sequencing does, and spending on the wrong channel first is the expensive mistake here rather than spending too little. The hardest part is usually measurement: retail sell-through, marketplace orders and direct traffic each report differently and none of them agree. The posts collected here are about deciding what to fund first, what to stop paying for, and how to read three contradictory reports without picking the flattering one.
